Your Road To Change Starts Here.

WELCOME

Life doesn’t come with a GPS or cheat codes. Navigating change, along with balancing personal, professional, and family obligations, can be challenging. Perhaps you’ve found that despite working hard to do everything “right”, things haven’t turned out the way you expected and now you’re at a crossroads.

You might not have the whole map figured out yet, but one thing’s clear: this ain’t it. And that’s the first step - knowing it’s time for a change.

I’ll never forget the day I sat in session with my own therapist decades ago, and she uttered eight words that would alter the course of my life:

‘‘You have the right to change your mind.’’

The truth is, people change. Situations, feelings, and needs change. Sometimes it takes a little help to sort things out; not from friends or family, but from an experienced professional.

Luckily, there’s more than one way to get where you want to go. That’s where Alternate Routes Therapy + Coaching™ comes in. I help women redefine their direction and rediscover their strength.

Major changes—even the good ones—can shake things up, leaving you feeling stressed, uncertain, or just plain overwhelmed. Some of the most common life transitions I help clients navigate are:

A note about Psychotherapy vs. Coaching

Traditional psychotherapy or clinical counseling may only be performed by a state-licensed, qualified professional who has obtained a Master’s degree in a related field, completed thousands of hours of training under supervision, successfully passed a state Law & Ethics Exam, and the National Clinical Mental Health Counselor Examination (NCMHCE). Therapists may assess, diagnose and treat cognitive, mental, and emotional issues utilizing evidence-based practices, interventions, and psychotherapeutic techniques. In therapy, your treatment might entail exploring past events to recognize how they may have contributed to current behaviors, and developing tools and techniques to alleviate your symptoms.

Coaching is different from therapy in that it often emphasizes short term goal setting and ways to achieve personal or professional aspirations. Multiple types of coaching services are available (Life, Career, etc.) and they need not follow a uniform method. Although it may have some similarities to therapy, coaching does not require licensing, credentialing or formal education. Anyone seeking paid coaching services is highly encouraged to perform their own due diligence to verify the coach’s individual qualifications and expertise in their stated area of specialty.
